‘IDENTITY
CARD EK LIFELINE’ WINS 3 INTERNATIONAL AWARDS Film `Identity Card - Ek Lifeline’, the bravest film from India on Kashmir has recently won 3 International Awards at the San Francisco Global Movie Festival for Best Film, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor. The film releases on 29th August 2014 in 48 countries. Identity Card is an independent film, which has so far travelled internationally and applauded as well. One of the leading publications in UK quoted the film as “Identity card is the bravest film which has come out of India in recent times”. A German newspaper critic titled it as “Milestone in the path of changing cinema in India’ and Aseem Chhabra, popular film critic and director of New York Indian Film Festival says in his review “An important film that explores the complexities of the Kashmir situation with a touch of humour and irony!” “Film viewers have seen the locational beauty of Kashmir so far; let them see the real story straight from the heart of Kashmir - a

story of its people. I am delighted that my film has been honoured and acclaimed internationally. The credit goes to the team who has worked on this film to make it a success. So to see the hard work and passion and also to extend the entertainment value, I would recommend my film to the film viewers,” says Rahat Kazmi, Kashmiri film writer-director who made his directorial debut with `Dekh Bhai Dekh’ starring Gracy Singh. The satirical story of the film puts a question mark on the governing system of the ‘Kashmir’ by portraying the problem of identity crisis of the natives who have been living there for decades. The blood on the streets of Kashmir gets reported in the parliament, gets a fire in the neighboring country but what about the blood which boils in the heart and gets stoned there itself on the regular terrifying question of identity and its die hard proofing. Saurabh Shukla who recently won best supporting actor award for his performance in Jolly LLB says, “The concept of the film is based on the importance of Identity Card – a document of our existence. As a matter of fact, the Identity Card is required everywhere; whether you go to a bank, to avail loan, and even if you visit your friend’s residence, the security asks for the Identity Card. So in a high security region like Kashmir, it is the utmost essential possession that one can have. This film is straight from heart of a Kashmiri and it touches the hearts no matters whoever you are.” ‘’There are some scenes of torture which reciprocates the reality of the state giving the viewer goose bumps but at the same time it is worth watching the film experiencing the beautiful live scenes of paradise on the big screen, the comic element adding the true flavor of entertainment and chenille acting of the actors like Saurabh Shukla, Raghuveer Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Vipin Sharma, Prashant Kumar, Furqan Merchant and Shoib Kazmi”, says Tia Bajpai, the actress of the film.
