Declutter your wardrobe and kitchen cabinets by sorting out old clothes and utensils. Give away the ones in good condition. Figure out which parts of the house will need major cleaning and start with them first. Focus on corners, fans, mirrors and areas that are not dusted regularly. Getting new curtains instead of washing all old ones might also be a time-saving exercise, and will give a fresh look to the house. If you do not have the time to get all the walls painted afresh, try using wallpapers for a change.

Buy some new paintings and stained-glass artefacts for your walls, and some new lampshades to add to the Diwali decor. Visit a nursery and pick up some plants for your indoors. Plants add a fresh look to the house, and can be used to decorate with lights too for Diwali.
